When you join Aletheia, it runs a quick check before you start learning â that's the placement test. It figures out where you are so you don't have to start from the very beginning if you already know things!
What Is the Placement Test?
The placement test is a short set of questions that helps Aletheia figure out what you already know in each subject. It's not a grade â it's more like a map. The AI uses your answers to find the best starting point for your learning.
It happens once for each subject when you first add it. You might get easy questions, medium questions, and harder ones â that's normal. The tutor is figuring out where your knowledge starts and where it gets fuzzy.
How Long Does It Take?
Most placement checks take 5â10 minutes per subject. The AI pays attention as you answer â if you're getting things right quickly, it moves on fast. If you're unsure, it asks a few more questions to figure out where you stand.
There's no timer. Take your time and answer as best you can!
What Happens With Your Results?
After the placement test, Aletheia picks a starting level for that subject that fits you. A few things happen:
- Your tutor starts teaching from the right place â not too easy, not too hard
- Your parent can see a summary of your results in their dashboard
- You jump straight into lessons that are actually useful for you
You won't see a score â the goal isn't to pass or fail, it's to find the right starting point.
What If I Get Questions Wrong?
That's completely fine! Getting some questions wrong is the whole point. The placement test is trying to find where your knowledge ends. It's not a real test, and nobody is grading you on it. Just answer honestly â the AI learns more from wrong answers than from guessed right ones.
Can I Retake the Placement Test?
Yes! Your parent can reset the placement for any subject from their dashboard. You might want to retake it if:
- You've been studying a lot on your own and feel ready to move up
- You felt nervous the first time and didn't do your best
- You started a new subject and want a fresh check
You can't reset it yourself â ask a parent to do it from their account.
Tips for the Placement Test
- Answer honestly â don't guess if you don't know; "I don't know" is a helpful answer too
- Don't use outside help â the test works best when it reflects what you know right now
- Relax â there are no bad results. Every starting point is the right one for you today
