Flashcards are one of the best ways to remember things for the long term. Aletheia's flashcard system uses spaced repetition â a scientifically proven method that shows you cards at just the right time so you never forget.
What Is Spaced Repetition?
When you first learn something, you need to review it soon to remember it. But once you know it well, you don't need to review it as often. Spaced repetition tracks this automatically:
- Cards you struggle with â shown more often
- Cards you know well â shown less often (but not forgotten!)
Over time, you'll remember more with less study time. đ§
How to Review Flashcards
- From your dashboard, tap Flashcards
- You'll see your cards organized by subject and topic
- Tap Review Due Cards to see everything that's ready for review
- Read the front of the card and try to recall the answer
- Flip the card to check
- Rate how well you remembered:
- Wrong â I didn't know this (younger kids see "Didn't Know")
- Hard â I remembered, but it was difficult (younger kids see "Tricky")
- Correct â I got it right (younger kids see "Got It!")
Your rating tells the system when to show you that card again.
Where Do Flashcards Come From?
Flashcards are generated automatically based on your curriculum topics. You can also generate new flashcards from the Flashcards section for any of your active subjects and topics.
Understanding Your Progress
Your flashcards are organized into three tiers:
- New â cards you haven't reviewed yet
- Learning â cards you're still working on (reviewed, but not yet mastered)
- Mastered â cards you've consistently remembered over time (21+ days of successful reviews)
Practice Mode
Want extra practice? Use Practice Mode to re-review cards you got wrong or found tricky. Cards you miss get re-queued so you can try them again in the same session.
Tips for Better Flashcard Sessions
- Review daily â even a few minutes keeps your memory fresh
- Be honest about whether you knew it â marking "Correct" when you guessed won't help you learn
- Don't rush â take a moment to really think before flipping the card
Earning Avatar Unlocks with Flashcards
Reviewing flashcards earns you achievements that unlock new avatar customization items:
- Complete your 1st flashcard review â unlock a starter item
- Reach 10, 25, 50, or 100 reviews â unlock increasingly rare items
