Your First Tutoring Session | Aletheia Support

Ready to learn? Here's how your child signs in and starts their first tutoring session.

Children can sign in two ways, depending on what the parent enabled.

Family Code + PIN

Open the student login link from your parent dashboard, or go to the child sign-in page and choose Use My PIN.
Enter the Family Code if it isn't already filled in.
Enter Your Secret PIN.
Click Let's Go!

This is the simplest option for younger learners. The family code is remembered on that device for next time.

Child Email, Google, or Apple

If your child has their own email account set up, they sign in on the regular sign-in page with their password, Continue with Google, or Continue with Apple. From the child sign-in page, I Have an Email goes there too.

The very first time your child signs in, they go through a short welcome: pick an avatar, choose a favorite thing to learn about, and try one quick warm-up question. Then they land on Home. See Your Child's First Login.

The Child Home Screen

Home is your child's dashboard. Depending on their progress and enabled features, they may see:

Subject cards - one card for each active subject.
Continue - jump back into the most recent subject.
Stars, streak, and badges - learning consistency and achievements.
Homework Helper - guided help with typed or photo-based homework questions.
Flashcards - shown when cards are due for review.

The menu includes Home, Homework, and Profile, where your child can customize their avatar.

Starting a Tutoring Session

On Home, your child taps a subject card.
Many subjects start with a short placement check the first time, so the tutor knows where to begin. See How the Placement Test Works.
The tutor then guides your child through the material with explanations, examples, questions, and quizzes.
Your child can type an answer, choose quick-answer buttons when shown, or ask a question.

The tutor adapts to your child's age range, learning preferences, subject placement, and progress.

What the AI Tutor Can Do

Explain concepts at the right level.
Ask guiding questions before giving answers.
Generate practice problems and quizzes.
Help with homework using typed questions or images.
Create flashcards and study guides.
Track mastery and suggest what to review next.
Use visual explanations when helpful.
Use Text-to-Speech to read aloud to the student.

First Session Tips for Parents

Sit nearby for the first session so your child is comfortable.
Show them how to ask for help: "Can you explain fractions?" or "Give me a hint."
Remind them it is okay to be wrong; the tutor uses mistakes as teaching moments.
Review the session afterward from the parent dashboard if you want to see what happened.

What's Saved After a Session

Aletheia may save:

Conversation history for parental review.
Quiz scores and topic progress.
Flashcard review activity.
Study guide or mastery updates.
Streak and star changes.

Parents can review this activity from the dashboard.
