Email Verification

Why Aletheia requires email verification and what to do if you don't receive the verification email.

When you create an Aletheia account with an email address and password, we send you a verification email before you can add children or set up learning subjects. This is an important step for both security and child safety.

Why verification is required

Email verification serves several purposes on Aletheia:

  • Child safety & COPPA compliance — Verifying your email helps us confirm you are a real parent or guardian before your children's data is created or processed.
  • Security alerts — Security notifications (such as failed PIN attempts or account lockouts) are sent to your email. An unverified address means you could miss urgent alerts.
  • Account recovery — Your verified email is the only way to reset your password if you get locked out.
  • Co-parent invitations — Verified emails ensure that invitations to join your family account reach the right person.

What the verification email looks like

The email comes from noreply@aletheiatutor.com with the subject line:

Verify your email — Aletheia

It contains a large Verify Email Address button that takes you to a secure link. The link expires after 24 hours.

If you don't see the email, check your Spam or Junk folder — some email providers filter automated emails.

What to do if you don't receive it

  1. Wait a minute — Transactional emails can occasionally take 1–2 minutes to arrive.
  2. Check spam/junk — Look for an email from noreply@aletheiatutor.com.
  3. Resend the verification email — From your dashboard, click the yellow banner at the top and select Resend verification email. You can resend once every 60 seconds.
  4. Check the email address — Make sure you signed up with the right address. Go to Settings → Account to see which email is on file.
  5. Contact support — If none of the above work, reach out to us at support@aletheiatutor.com.

Google OAuth users

If you signed in with Google, your email is automatically verified by Google — you will never see the verification banner and no action is needed.

After verification

Once your email is verified:

  • The amber banner disappears from your dashboard.
  • You can add children, set up learning subjects, and use all parent features.
  • Your account settings page shows a green Verified badge next to your email.
  • You'll receive security alerts and weekly progress reports at your verified address.
