Each child in Aletheia has their own profile â a private, personalized learning space. Here's how to set one up.
Before You Begin
- You need an existing parent account. If you haven't created one yet, see Creating Your Account.
- If this is your first child, you'll need to complete a COPPA parental consent form first. This is a one-time requirement to comply with children's privacy law.
- Children do not need an email address or Google account. The recommended sign-in method is a family code + PIN.
Steps to Add a Child Profile
1. Navigate to Children
Sign in to your parent account. Go to the Children page from the sidebar, then click + Add Child.
2. Enter the Child's Details
Fill in:
- Display Name â a nickname for your child (e.g., "Emma", "Buddy"). For privacy, avoid using their full real name.
- Age Range â choose from 5â7, 8â10, or 11â14. This tailors the tutor's language, difficulty, and teaching style.
- Grade Level (optional) â helps refine subject recommendations.
3. Choose a Sign-In Method
Aletheia offers three options for how your child signs in:
- PIN Code (recommended) â a simple 4â6 digit PIN. Best for younger children. Your child signs in using your family code + their PIN.
- Email Account â for older children who want their own login. They'll create an account with an email address.
- Both â allows login with either PIN or email.
If you choose PIN (or Both), you'll set the PIN during this step. Choose something your child can remember.
4. That's It!
Click Create Profile. Your child's profile is ready to go.
After creating the profile, you can:
- Add subjects from the child's profile page
- Customize their avatar â your child can do this themselves from the child portal
- Share your family code so your child can sign in
Your Family Code
Your family code is a short unique code tied to your family account. All children in your family share the same code â each child uses it along with their own PIN to sign in.
You can find your family code on the parent dashboard. There's also a shareable link you can send directly to your child's device.
Tip: The family code isn't secret (a PIN is still required to access any profile), but avoid sharing it publicly.
Managing Multiple Children
- The Free and Starter plans support 1 child profile
- The Family plan supports up to 5 child profiles
- The Family+ plan supports up to 10 child profiles
To add more children, go to Children â + Add Child. Each child gets their own profile, conversation history, and progress tracking.
What Happens Next
Once a profile is created, add subjects for your child and they can sign in to start learning. See Your First Tutoring Session to learn what to expect.
