Each child in Aletheia has their own private learning space. Parents create and manage child profiles from the parent dashboard.

Before You Begin

  • You need an existing parent account. If you haven't created one yet, see Creating Your Account.
  • If this is your first child, you'll complete a one-time COPPA parental consent step first.
  • Decide whether your child should use simple family code + PIN sign-in, a child email account, or both.

Steps to Add a Child Profile

1. Open Children

Sign in to your parent account, go to Children, then click + Add Child.

2. Enter Profile Details

Fill in:

  • Display Name - a nickname for your child. For privacy, avoid using their full legal name.
  • Age Range - choose the age band that best fits your child, including teen ranges when appropriate.
  • Grade Level - used for grade package recommendations and curriculum starting points.

Age helps tune the tutor's tone and reading level. Grade level helps recommend subjects and starting material.

3. Choose a Sign-In Method

Aletheia supports:

  • PIN Code - your child signs in with your family code and their PIN. Best for younger learners.
  • Email Account - your child uses a child email account with password, Google, or Apple sign-in after setup.
  • PIN + Email Account - lets the child use either method.

If you choose PIN or PIN + Email Account, set a PIN your child can remember.

If you enable a child email account, send the setup email after creating the profile. The setup link lets the child create a password or connect Google/Apple sign-in. See Child Account Setup & SSO.

After the profile is created, Aletheia may recommend grade-level subject packages and ask a few personalization questions. These help choose a starting path, but you can adjust subjects and placements later.

Your Family Code

Your family code is a short code tied to your family account. Children using PIN sign-in enter this code plus their own PIN.

You can find the family code on the parent dashboard. A shareable link may pre-fill the family code on the child sign-in page.

Tip: The family code is not the secret part by itself. A child's PIN is still required, but you should avoid sharing the code publicly.

Managing Multiple Children

  • Free and Starter support 1 active child profile.
  • Family supports up to 5 active child profiles.
  • Family+ supports up to 10 active child profiles.

Archived children do not count as active child seats. If your Family+ household needs more than 10 active children, contact support.

What Happens Next

Once a profile is created:

  • Add or review subjects.
  • Complete any recommended personalization questions.
  • Send a child setup email if email/SSO is enabled.
  • Share the family code and PIN if PIN sign-in is enabled.
  • Help your child start their first session.

See Your First Tutoring Session for what to expect.
